Microsoft Office & Office 365

The Office 365 Training Centre offers free online training on any of the Microsoft Packages, such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

If you need help with earlier versions of Microsoft office, training can be found for Office 2013. Again these are free to complete and cover a wide range of programmes.

There is also in-depth training available from Microsoft Learn, organised by various levels of knowledge and expertise.

Online meetings

Video conferencing guidance

The NES Remote and Rural Healthcare Education Alliance (RRHEAL) team have created a range of guidance and support for using video conferencing technology effectively. Visit their site on Turas Learn to browse resources.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft teams is group chat software that allows for other collaborative functions such as making video calls. It is part of the Office 365 suite but those without the software can also be invited to join a Teams meeting via their browser.

There are a range of Teams video tutorials available on topics such as setting up and attending live events, making calls and managing meetings.

GoToMeeting

GoToMeeting is web conferencing software that, in addition to video conferencing, allows for functions such as calling into the session by phone, screen sharing and session recording.

There are also versions available specifically for hosting webinars and training sessions, which have slightly different features. Anyone with an invite can join a session online, on a computer or mobile device.

Detailed support information and tutorial videos are available.

Phone conference calls

An often-underused facility is to have a simple conference call with up to six people using a phone. You dial one person and use the 'conference call' button to call the others then add them to the meeting.
