The Clinical Effectiveness workstream, operates within the Dental Directorate. The primary aim of the workstream is to support dental teams throughout Scotland by providing user-friendly, evidence-based guidance on topics identified as priorities for dentistry in Scotland.
The Practice Support Manual (PSM) supports practice management and organisation in primary dental care by providing up-to-date advice on a range of topics that are essential for running a dental practice. While primarily for dental teams in Scotland, the PSM might also be useful further afield.

Provides user-friendly, evidence-based guidance with recommendations and advice presented in a form that can be interpreted easily and implemented
Provides practical implementation advice to clarify changes in legislation, professional regulations or other developments
Supports dental teams to provide high quality healthcare that is safe, effective and person-centred
Promotes the implementation of evidence-based practice in Scotland through the partnership and participation of all providers of primary dental care in the conduct of high quality research and the dissemination of the increasing body of evidence relevant to dental primary care.
Develops and evaluates the implementation of strategies to improve the knowledge-to-practice gap in primary care dentistry in Scotland.
