Chest pain is the second most common presenting symptoms in the emergency department (ED) and puts enormous stain on the Norwegian emergency healthcare services. Accelerated discharge pathways for chest pain patients have been successfully implemented internationally and there is great potential to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and LOS by improving diagnostic strategies and efficiencyat St. Olav’s Hospital. The initial aim was to develop an algorithm for low risk chest pain patients in the emergency department (ED) to decrease lengthof stay and unnecessary admissions. The goal was redefined and the focus was to improve Time-to-ECG and Time-to-lab in the ED.
