Ticks and Lyme Disease Resources

Ticks and Lyme disease-  educational resources for registered practitioners

To support key practitioner groups, a number of educational resources were developed and subsequently renewed in 2019 and further updated in 2022, to raise awareness of Lyme disease, and how to recognise and manage it most appropriately.

The Scottish Health Protection Network formed a Lyme Disease sub-group in 2016 which was driven by an apparently quickly increasing burden of infection and associated public concern. The sub-group quickly agreed to prioritise three workstreams:

  1. Improved surveillance
  2. Workforce education and development
  3. Enhanced public awareness of ticks and Lyme Disease

In addition colleagues may find the following BMJ visual summary to be of use:

Lyme disease: antibiotic choices

Please note: These resource continue to be updated as required to support this programme but do not replace the clinical judgement of practitioners.
