Family-centred care places parents and families at the centre of a baby’s neonatal care. It leads to healthier babies and happier families. Communication between staff and parents is a key component of family-centred care and a national neonatal quality standard. Effectively involving parents in communication and care is challenging in large, busy, technology-focussed neonatal units. Our aim was to improve communication between all staff and parents in the neonatal unit, as a key foundation to making family-centred care integral to our work.
