Children who are or have been looked after face significantly worse outcomes than their peers who have not. There are many benefits to sharing books with children in the early years, including communication, language and speech development, and building stronger attachments. The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a monthly book gifting scheme for looked after children under five years old. On the 1st July 2016 Aberdeen City submitted it’s first Book Order for 60 children. That accounted for 41% of eligible children. Aim: By 31st December 2016, 80% of eligible children will be enrolled in the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
