Due to expansions in Orthopaedic and Cardiothoracic services over the last 5 years there has been a 15% increase in the plain film x-ray activity. There are very obvious peaks and troughs in the daily activity in General Radiology, and there have been associated increases in Patient waiting times throughout each day. Until now there has been no structured QI work to support the improvement of Patient Flow processes within the Radiology system. Aim: To Reduce Patient Waiting Times for X-ray to 15 minutes or less, for 100% of Patients, before November 2016, by: Re-aligning In-Patient x-ray appointment times to suit their Clinical need; Improve existing booking system for all In-Patients; Increasing Activity during less busy times of the day; Putting into Practice: Right person, right place, right time.
