The Acute Adult Safety Programme, has identified a ‘structured response’ to deterioration as a process to reduce harm from cardiac arrest. NHS Lothian has identified 9 components within a structured response: inform nurse in charge, review SIRS criteria, review eKIS, review observation frequency, document active problems/diagnosis/management plan, document time for medical re-review, document escalation plan, discuss/document resus status, discuss management plan with nurse in charge. As part of the NHS Lothian Deteriorating Patient Collaborative, the Ward 207 team were enthusiastic to support this project. Aim: By June 2016, 95% of patients with a physiological deterioration triggering a SEWS ≥3 or a clinical concern on Ward 207 will have a structured response to their deterioration.
