If a child is at risk of harm, an assessment of the child and family's strengths and the risks and needs is undertaken. Part of our local child protection accountability and evaluation framework is an independent review of child protection risk assessments and decision-making. It was recognised that the system for ensuring all child protection investigation reports were submitted for review was not robust. The learning from these reviews was not being shared with practitioners and managers effectively. The impact of this project is increasing confidence of evidenced-based decisions and ensuring that key learning from reviews is shared with practitioners. Aim: 95% of child protection investigations assessment reports will be independently reviewed.
